Juniors

Lewes Golf Club has always encouraged Junior Golfers and the members are great supporters of the Junior section. We are proud to have been awarded a Golf Mark accreditation which acknowledges that we have an excellent facility for Juniors to enjoy the game in the right environment.

Our Junior Organiser is James Dean. James works as an assistant in the pro shop and sits on our Junior committee alongside our PGA Golf Professional Tony Hilton (who was a junior member at Lewes) and Steve Verth, a former club captain, past club champion and a current member of our Scratch team.

The Junior Committee organise a comprehensive range of events for Juniors of all ages and abilities to take part in. Junior Medals and Stablefords, Junior Knockout and Juniors Ladders and The Golf Foundation National Skills challenge. We have a junior team that compete in various county events and play matches with other local clubs and Junior members receive free coaching sessions run by our PGA Golf Professional Tony Hilton.

Further coaching for members and non-members takes place on Saturday mornings run by PGA Assistant Professional Matt Tucknott, these sessions cost £6 per session. The sessions start at 10.30 for 1 hour and equipment can be provided if required. Matt also organises golf schools during the School holidays that are very popular.

We offer two categories of Junior membership that are open to anyone who is under the age of 18 on Jan 1st 2012.

Junior Membership is £25 and this allows members to take part in all of the Junior events at the club and get a junior handicap, as well use of the course at all times on weekdays and in the afternoons Saturdays and Sundays.

Junior Membership Plus is £75 and this is for Juniors who hold a CONGU Handicap and would like to participate in all club events (excluding selected competitions) and have unrestricted access to the golf course.

Junior members can upgrade to the Junior plus category during the year should they obtain a CONGU handicap and wish to increase their playing opportunities.

Lewes Golf Club is committed to safeguarding and promoting junior players and welfare. A comprehensive Child Protection and Duty of Care Policy underpinned by government guidance and legislation have been approved. Our child protection policy is available here. Codes of conduct for both volunteers involved in running junior golf and for the juniors themselves are available on request.
