Hole Five

Hole Five - Par 4

The fairway bunkers on this hole are in play from the tee for a long tee shot or with the second shot if you don’t get the drive away. The safe play is to lay up. The fairway falls significantly to the right, however the right hand rough is not a bad place to hit your approach into the long narrow green.

The Lynchets
Whilst on the 5th fairway look to your right at the slopes of the hills on the other side of the valley. You should be able to see an extensive pattern of ridges and ledges showing through the grass. These are Lynchets, marks made by prehistoric man ploughing the land. Lynchets can also be seen in the fields running to the right-hand side of the eighth and ninth fairways.
