Hole One - Par 4

A good line from the tee is at the right hand 150 yard marker as the fairway falls to the left. The second shot plays longer than the yardage and should favour the right half of the green. Anything pitching short or left risks finding the bunker or sweeping away from the green leaving a difficult pitch.

Lewes Castle
Standing on the 1st tee, looking over to Lewes town, on your left, you get a fabulous view of the castle. Lewes castle was built by the Normans soon after their conquest of England in 1066. It is of a motte and bailey construction and is famously one of only two remaining English castles to have a double motte, the other being Lincoln. (A motte being a raised earthwork).
